Hornsby Art Prize

Kel is busy putting together some artwork for the Hornsby Art Prize. Kel has also been invited to exhibit some of her work down in Melbourne at the brunswick Art Gallery in Melbourne in Dec. Both Kel and i will be attending and it should be awesome! To show some of Kel's versatility and how she never stops working -i managed to snap some illustrations from her sketch book- the sketches are small and are the size of an A5 page, and she carries it with you her on the train to work and is always doodling when not designing tops or sewing.

Kel did have time to break from her heavy schedule and celebrate her birthday with a BBQ down at Lane Cove National Park with some friends. Here Kel is showing us her new found driving skill the indicating to the left....

Kel and her magnificent weekend...

Kel had the biggest trade day since prettylittle thing began. We opted to setup at crows nest markets on the saturday. The sun was shining, but forecasts predicted gale force winds for later that day. Well the wind tore up most of the day, 30km winds are nothing to be sneezed at and so we packed up early and headed home.

Not all is lost, kel did however manage to secure a spot on sunday for the crows nest street market, this involved the whole street being blocked off, with up to 40,000 visitors.

So we set off again and set up in our designated spot, kel and I thought we were in the worst spot to start off. As the day wore on, the spot would prove to be a winner for kel.

We were set up under a awning, there wasn't a stall next to us on either side, which gave kels customer space to move around and look thru the singlets.

according to other stall holders in the busiest sections, people couldnt see or get to their products because of the crowding, and heat.

what turned out to be a fail on sat, sundays trade tripled what kel would of made. Kel was busy from the time I left her at 930 till 5.
Well done kel!

kel, will be taking next weekend off and will be back on the markets in a fortnight.

October festi...

As summer approaches, so does the traffic for the markets. We expect the markets will be haven for new born babies, tourists and domestic travelers heading to the beach.

Last Sat at Manly was a little quiet, all stall holders reported a quiet day; the overcast weather didn't help, but then i guess you can't get all sunny days....ahhhh....

Although the day was quiet, it wasn't un eventful, i watched a couple of rangers patrol a stall commenting on bags and bottles of water on the ground, and that it may be a hazard to a passerby??? hmmm, perhaps they think the water is going to leap out and burn them or the bags of clothes will suddnely devour them as they walk past...weirdo rangers!

I also managed to tear a hole in my 6 mth shorts; which prompted a new pair of shorts to be bought. At ($80) i was not impressed, to top the day off it was windy and a little cold so i bought a cheap $10 AUSTRALIA cardy from some dodgy shop...and well the arms were short ! i was warm and that was the main thing.

Heres me in my "gumbo" $10 top- Check out Kel's response when i told her about my dire problem with my shorts...and the fail top....

Kel, in her wisdon did mange to sello-tape my ass so i could at least protect the children's from my ass falling out and allow me to purchase expensive shorts that i really didn't need...( i should of bought a towel).

Back to reality, Kel is looking to be at a couple of big markets- the Glebe street fair and the Narrabeen markets in December- so keep your eye balls peeled for the market dates and we will let you all know when we are in the market.

see you soon
